Alice the Corpse Flower, one of eight specimens of amorphophallus titanum at the Chicago Botanic Gardens in Glencoe, Illinois, just after blossoming in the early morning hours of September 29, 2015. Corpse flowers are so named because of their smell, which has been described as a mix of dirty diapers and rotting fruit. The flower stands nearly six feet tall and blooms for approximately three days only once every 10 to 15 years. The smell attracts insects to help spread the flower's seeds.
